Research preview
Known-Image Web Research for Law Enforcement
Warden is exploring how known-image matching could help law enforcement teams find potential appearances of an authorized reference image on public web pages. This is a research preview, not a deployed investigation product.
Start with an authorized reference image
The proposed workflow starts with an image your team is authorized to use and an agreed public-web research scope. The question is where that image, or a sufficiently similar copy, may appear. This is not face recognition, person identification or access to private accounts.
Treat matches as leads for human review
Exact, near-duplicate and crop matching can produce candidates to inspect alongside source links and surrounding context. Similarity is not identity, provenance or proof. A reviewer must assess each result, and a pilot would need a measured evaluation against the team’s reference examples before operational reliance.
Define requirements before an operational pilot
Institutional use needs separate validation of access controls, evidence handling, retention and review procedures. Warden has not validated law-enforcement customer outcomes or evidentiary suitability. An initial discussion should use non-sensitive examples and requirements rather than uploading case material.
Common questions
Is this ready for live investigations?
No. It is an exploratory use case. Operational deployment would require an agreed scope, accuracy evaluation and appropriate evidence-handling controls.
Can I upload case evidence to start?
Start with a requirements discussion and non-sensitive examples. Do not send case evidence through the public pilot form or marketing inbox.
